WENDY AND TOM DINE OUT

Dewey's reminds us of all the family style pancake houses that we have visited, except it isn't a pancake house! It has average decor and a "homey" feeling to it. The food is good "American home cooking". The portions are very large and most patrons were seen leaving with styrofoam "people boxes". The menu includes many seafood offerings, along with Italian fare, meat dishes, etc. The menu reflects the informal atmosphere of the restaurant and has some cute comments. For instance, beside the Vegetable Primavera it says, "No animals were experimented on while perfecting this dish. "Although there is nothing outstanding about the place, it is certainly a reasonable choice for a large meal that is pretty darn good!

RESTAURANT:

DEWEY'S

ADDRESS:

51 Main Street, Lakeville, MA

DATE:

August 21, 2001

MEAL:

Dinner

BREAD:

Nice rolls served warm

SALAD:

The salad was warm and was served with salad dressing that was also warm. The ingredients had nice variety but were not as fresh as they could have been.

APPETIZER:

ENTREE:

Chef's Nightmare($15.95)Very good - Excellent. The usual array of fried seafoods was enhanced by the addition of lobster. The onion rings and French fries were better than usual. A large potion. Served with a creamy cole slaw.

Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti ($9.95) Very good - much too much for one person to eat unless they have a huge appetite. The sauce was nicely seasoned and the spaghetti was cooked properly and had not been allowed to cool, as is often the case. There was plenty of tender chicken.

DESSERT:

OTHER:

Service was a bit slow and the waiter forgot the drink refill and to bring butter with the rolls.

Soft drinks served in oversized plastic glasses. One had a large chip out of the rim.

We did not have dessert, but the bakery items looked tempting.

Very casual dress
