Eastern Pier Seafood restaurant serves Hong Kong and Szechuan cuisine. It has the most extensive menu that we have seen at a Chinese restaurant. The seafood offerings are particularly abundant. The menu below only shows a sampling of what is available. We originally entered this restaurant to order some food to take home. We had just disembarked from a Bay State Line cruise and were very close to the Eastern Pier. When we entered the eatery, however, we were so impressed by what we saw that we decided to stay. The Eastern Pier has a "fresh" look to it. The central color scheme is turquoise and this color can be seen in the tablecloths, banquettes, Formica table tops, napkins, and venetian blinds. The coordinating carpet also has turquoise, among other colors, in it. The high-backed chairs are black . The plates here are oversized and already placed on the table when the diner enters. The rice is served in attractive blue and white bowls with a Chinese pattern on them. The diners appeared to be a bit more formally dressed than we would expect for this type of restaurant. It turns out that many of them were there to dine before attending a Tony Bennett concert at the FleetBoston Pavilion. The rest of the diners were in "attractive casual" attire. Although there was a male diner wearing shorts, no one was wearing jeans or tee shirts.
RESTAURANT: EASTERN PIER SEAFOOD
RESTAURANT 237 Northern Avenue, Boston DATE: August 26, 2000 MEAL: Dinner BREAD: SALAD: APPETIZER: ENTREE: Orange Flavor Beef ($9.95) Different! This dish was
prepared with more vinegar than usual, making it less sweet.
We can't really fault the preparation because it wasn't
inferior to the one we are familiar with, it was just
different. The portion was an average size that was
certainly plenty for a dinner meal. Jade Pea Pod ($7.95) Excellent. Stir fried pea pods in
a light garlic sauce. The pea pods were very bright green
and very crispy. Rice - "Rice had its usual Chinese rice
clumpiness"- Tom Birchmire DESSERT: OTHER: Metered parking along the adjacent streets or paid
