The night we tried this restaurant was an unusual one! It was "Biker Week" and there were over 300,000 motorcycles in the area. Most eating establishments had long waiting lines because of all the extra tourists, but there was no wait at Hart's. The restaurant has 500 seats so it is hard to fill them all! The decor here is vertical wood paneled walls with turkey plates. It is an informal restaurant with Formica topped tables that have paper place mats telling of the restaurant's history. Hart's is a place that serves "home-style" cooking. Perhaps we don't like the simplicity of the concept. We did not try the main menu item, the Turkey Plate, but we saw many served. Although this menu item is probably quite good, it did not look appetizing on the plain plates with no garnish. Web site:

RESTAURANT: HART'S TURKEY FARM
RESTAURANT ADDRESS: Junctions of routes 3 and 104, Meredith, NH DATE: May 16, 2001 MEAL: Dinner BREAD: Dinner rolls and corn bread that were made with maple
syrup or something else sweet. The corn bread was good but
crumbled easily. SALAD: APPETIZER: Cheese and pretzels - nice soft cheese Saltine and carrot relish - not to our liking,
especially the crackers Turkey Termpua ($5.75) Quite Good - Served with hot
mustard that was sticky and had crusted over from sitting
too long and Duck Sauce. Turkey was cut into small pieces
and batter fried to make little crispy round bites. ENTREE: Turkey Salad Plate ($7.50) Not very good! Garnished
with carrots, beets, cucumber, celery, olives, tomatoes, and
served with cranberry sauce on the side. The turkey was cut
into tiny pieces and the overall salad was dry. A boring
presentation! DESSERT: OTHER: Parking available in large lot Catering available Very informal dining Gift shop Take out service and "turkeys to go" OVERALL: C This restaurant was a little too "home style" for us.
The wait staff was friendly, as described in their brochure,
but had no knowledge of the menu offerings. The food was
mediocre. We suspect that other menu items would have been
better choices, but we did not like the restaurant enough to
return.
