Jae's has five different locations in the Boston area and we believe that all of them are different. We dined in the one that Jae describes as , "Old World elegance complete with all the original architectural details from the forties." We would describe it as formal, heavy, dimly lit, and somewhat unattractive. There are Corinthian columns and pilasters as well as drum-like overhead light fixtures. A lovely fish tank separates the room. This is one of the prettiest tanks that we have seen with white coral and brightly colored tropical fish. In spite of the fact that we do not care for this type of decor, everything else was pleasing. The presentation of food was creative and each dish was arranged carefully. The lunch boxes were a pleasure to look at. Other entrees were equally well presented and the service was excellent. There were so many items on the menu that we would like to try that we will certainly go back again.

Hot and Sour Soup (Included with meal) Excellent, spicy, but not too spicy. This variety tasted like it had some tomato in it and was a little sweeter than usual. Excellent. |

ENTREE: |
Tempura Lunch Box ($8.95) Excellent - a lacquered box with divisions for each item. There were two dipping sauces and a compartment for salad, rice, noodles and tempura that was composed of broccoli, shrimp and something else that we can't remember! Maine Crab and Lobster Cake Lunch Box ($9.95) Very good, similar to the one listed above Crispy Pad Thai ($8.95) Excellent. Served with fresh bean sprouts and lime. The traditional flavors but with crispy noodles. |

OVERALL: |
A for food - we really liked the menu and the food was excellent B for decor, but others may find it to fit their taste better. We feel it needs remodeling to make it lighter and more modern to keep pace with their delicate foods. We thought the price for lunch was also very reasonable. |
