We like the Lobster Pot! Although there are many restaurants in Provincetown, we seem to keep returning to this one. Perhaps it is because we celebrate Mother's Day weekend and the coming of nice weather by returning here each year. It is a bit of a Birchmire ritual. Wendy always has her first lobster of the year or some other seafood dish. The restaurant "fits" the Provincetown experience. It is casual and the wait staff is always animated. The service is good and the sight of the ocean is nice. We prefer the dining room on the second floor because the view is better.
Note: We have eaten here several times, but only reviewed it once. This year when we returned, we found that the restaurant had become a bit more "formal." The decor was upgraded slightly, but it didn't have any impact on our rating. The Chowder, however, was different. Instead of having a creamy base, it was thickened by using a starchy thickener of some kind (flour? cornstarch?). this gave the soup a thick but somewhat "sticky" texture that we did not care for. We have downgraded the restaurant slightly due to this fact.
