The Outback chain appears to be well received by the public. The restaurants we have been to are always crowded and we usually have to wait for a table. This night was no different! Even at 5:30 p.m. on a Wednesday night, there was a 20 minute wait . Diners seem to be amused by the square, plastic pager presented them at the door. When their table is ready the red lights on this object blink. This Outback looked like all the rest with its dimly lit rooms and vaguely publike atmosphere. There is some seating at the bar and at the tables surrounding it. Full meals can be ordered from both of these locations. The menu is full of cute Australian names like, "Bonzer Salads, Grilled on the Barbie, Land Rovers, Down Under Favorites", etc.
Note: We have tried the Blue Cheese salad dressing here again and found it to be much better. The onions were not strong either.
Partial menu:

RESTAURANT: OUTBACK
STEAKHOUSE Ranger Plaza, Methuen, MA (Exit 27 off Route
93) DATE: November 11, 1999 MEAL: Dinner BREAD: Small, warm, loaf of dark bread - Excellent SALAD: Large glass bowl with different types of lettuce,
large, seasoned croutons, red onions, lots of shredded
cheese, excellent tomatoes - all ingredients were very
fresh. Blue cheese salad dressing had little flavor and the
red onions were much too strong. APPETIZER: ENTREE: Outback Rack - a 14-ounce rack of New Zealand lamb
served with a Cabernet sauce ($16.99) Perfectly cooked,
sauce was good, vegetables were wonderfully seasoned with an
unknown spice Prime Minister's Prime Rib ($11.99 for 8-ounce cut)
Excellent, perfectly cooked and served "au jus". Excellent
"loaded" (real bacon, cheese, sour cream, chives) baked
potato. Did not have the butter and salt coating that we
have had at other Outback restaurants. DESSERT: OTHER: Plenty of free parking Take out meals available Easy access to the highway Try to get baked potato without the butter and salt on
the skin Soft drinks served in oversized glass mugs Meals need a garnish. They look very "basic" when
served. OVERALL: B+ for second time we dined here The restaurant has good, average food, but is not
"special" in any way.
