Downstairs at Foxwoods, right next to the smoke free casino, is a surprisingly good restaurant. Not only is the food prepared well, but The Bistro is attractive and free of the hum of the casinos. Described as, "modern Tuscan" (Cheryl Donahue), it has semicircular banquettes with high backs covered with fabric. These are designed to seat six diners but there are other tables for less people. A beehive oven can be seen in the kitchen and is used to make the unusual thin crust pizzas. The tables are adorned with woven place mats and have a small carnation in a vase. The tableware is attractive. When pizza is ordered a stand is placed on the table to hold the 12" (at least it looked like 12 inch!) pizza. The wait staff is knowledgeable and well trained.
