When we are geocaching and climbing mountains (very small ones!) in New Hampshire we frequently stop in at a local restaurant. This is the case with the Village Kitchen. The restaurant has a "homey" somewhat friendly New England feel to it. It has both booths and counter space available. The day we were there at lunch time we were informed that they were only serving breakfast all day on that day. This condition did not bother us, but the food and service did! We try not to rate poor wait staff service in our reviews unless it looks like it is the norm at a place. It is always possible to catch a server on a bad day and we don't feel that we should hold that against the restaurant. In this case, the other wait staff personnel appeared to be courteous and well trained. Our wait person, on the other hand, was totally disinterested in us. We were viewing a map when she came over and it was stretched out across the table. Rather than giving us a chance to move it, she just plunked plates down on top of it. Then, after the map had been folded, she returned to plunk water glasses down at the end of the table instead of placing them in front of each of us. When it came to ordering, she was watching something in another part of the restaurant and never faced us directly when we spoke to her. After she practically threw our meal at us, she never returned to see if we wanted anything and never offered more tea or coffee. She was obviously having a bad day!

3 Egg Omelette with Bacon - a long, thin omelette. We prefer our omelettes to be a bit fluffier or at least not be flat as if spread out too far when fried on a grill

Veggie Omelette with sausage and potatoes - The vegetables in the omelette were good. The ptotatoes were soggy, but nicely seasoned.

Obviously we did not like it here. The service was extremely poor and the food was "average" at best. We will not return. There are too many other places to try!
